I have a love hate relationship with woven fabrics. Am I the only one?
They have such a great texture. They are so soft. They are oh so beautiful... but they fray. I have worked with some woven fabrics where I have wondered if there would be any fabric left before I got it sewn together.
I'm not usually much of a gambler, but I took a gamble with this woven fabric I found in India. I decided to give it try and hope for the best.
I was pleasantly surprised when I started cutting and sewing with this fabric and the fraying did not start.
These fabrics are hand woven by artisans in India. So each piece of fabric is really like a piece of art.
These fabrics vary in thickness. But they are thicker than similar fabrics you would find in your local fabric store. These have a GSM as high as 135.
4 of the fabrics have a 1 inch wide stripe. The other 4 fabrics have a 1/3 inch wide stripe.
I love how the fabrics all interact with each other with the different colors and shades.
I used these fabrics to make an Auntie Anita's Patchwork Quilt. I fell in love with the final result!
